The algebraic classification of the Weyl tensor in higher dimensions is a natural generalization of the Petrov classification in four dimensions. We overview basic properties of the classification and discuss various applications.

Algebraická klasifikace Weylova tenzoru ve vyšších dimenzích je přirozeným zobecněním Petrovovy klasifikace ve čtyřech dimenzích. Shrnujeme základní vlastnosti této klasifikace a diskutujeme její různé aplikace.
