Snubbers are indispensable only in converters based on GTOs. When more modern "snubberless" switching devices, e.g. IGCTs, are employed only di/dt limiting inductors and overvoltage protections are to be used.

Odlehčovací obvody (snubbery) jsou nezbytné pouze v měničích, které jsou založeny na polovodičových součástkách GTO. Při použití modernějších spínacích součástek označovyných jako "snubberless", což jsou např. součástky IGCT, postačí použít pouze indukčnosti omezující parametr di/dt a přepěťové ochrany.
