The growth of 15 basidiomycete strains divided into three groups (white-rot with high laccase production, white-rot with low laccase production and brown- rot) was studied on different substrates - beech, pine and spruce shavings - and compared with that of on commonly used media. Thereafter enzyme and carbohydrate metabolism profiles of the strains were determined using APiZyme or Api 50 CH metod, respectively. The results were compared and the correlation between the substrate exploitation and the enzyme outfit of the strains was evaluated
