Special issue of Optical and Quantum Electronics contains papers on topics presented at the 11th International Workshop on Optical Waveguide Theory and Numerical Modelling OWTNM'03 held in April 4-5, 2003, in Prague. The history of the workshop is briefly reviewed, and statistical data concerning the number and geographic distribution of participants are given. Invited talks at the workshop are listed, and both organizational and financial support of the workshop is acknowledged.
