Although problems of aging and its influence on long-term mechanical properties of polymer composites have received considerable attention, there remains a set of issues that are far from resolved. Some progress in long-term creep measurements (applicability of viscoelastic compliance measures, possibility to formulate superposition principles) and questions associated with their implementation (mixing of different types of aging during experiment, disagreement between a measured behaviour and the fundamental hypotheses, unknown relations between the structure of the material and its mechanical properties, non-linear effects, correct interpretation of the measured experimental data, new experimental tasks associated with the need for "eco-design")are discussed in this paper, with special emphasis on physical aging.
