The hydrological and ecological significance, as well as the site-to-site variation of low cloud and fog water deposition, has been studied in the Czech Republic since the second half of the 1980s. A widespread monitoring network including four mountainous and three urban areas was created and equipped in order to assess the water and pollutants inputs from wind driven low clouds and fogs onto the Earth surface.
