DC actuator-based linear drives must satisfy not only required static and dynamic characteristics in all considered operation regimes but also withstand the temperature rise of the most explosed structural parts, such as the field coil insulation. The paper presents a general methodology of their design that illustrated on analysis and optimizationof a typical electromagnet used in chemical industry.
