A substrate specificity of three forms of Mason-Pfizer monkey virus (M-PMV) protease (PR) was studied using C-terminally truncated M-PMV Gag polyprotein and mouse vimentin. The results show that the autoprocessing of M-PMV 17kDa protease into the 13kDa protease increases the proteolytic activity of the shorter form of PR.
