Several B-nor analogues of allopregnanolone (e.g. 3ŕ-hydroxy-5,6ŕ-epoxy-7-nor-5ŕ-pregnan-20-one or 3ŕ-hydroxy-7-nor-5ŕ-pregnane-7,20-dione) were prepared from 3á-hydroxypregn-5-en-20-one via corresponding 3á-acetoxy-20-oxo-7-nor-5á,6ŕ-pregnane-6,5-carbolactone. The configuration of the 3á-hydroxy group in these compounds was inverted by Mitsunobu reaction. GABAA receptor binding of compounds prepared will be published elsewhere.
