    A novel time-delayed coincidence technique has been applied to determine lifetimes of the levels populated from the exotic ćs isomers near .sub.70 Ni. The measurements were performed at the LISE spectrometer at GANIL following fragmentation of the .sub.76 Ge 60 MeV/u beam on a .sub.9 Be target. An array of four BaF.sup.2 detectors was employed to search for level lifetimes in the nanosecond and subnanosecond ranges. The results on .sub.72 Cu have clarified the order of the transitions and the nature of the levels.
