An analysis of Rykr's work from the expressionist beginnings in Chyše (1919-20), his close relationship with photographer J. Funke, the relationship to the town of Kolín, metamorphoses of style ranging from cubism to realism to the abstract period, contacts with the Paris avant-garde at the Salon les Surindépendants, an analysis of objects and assemblages which have not been preserved, Rykr's original concept of the Czech countryside in 1936-37, heraldic modernism and historicism in interior pictures, the Elegie [Elegies] cycle (1937-39) and the last cycle Koupelna [Bathroom].
