Dynamics of IEF was examined by using low molecular mass colored ampholytes (pI markers) in polyacrylamide slab gels. The pH gradient was created by the simple buffers and compared to IEF performed with synthetic carrier ampholytes. The experimental arrangement with electrodes in direct contact with gel was applied. The evolution of electrofocusing was monitored by CCD camera in real-time and video record was evaluated.
