Streaming current generated inside a liquid chromatography column changes if analytes zones are leaving the column. The effect can be understood from basic electrodynamic properties of the particle/medium interphase considering local double layer compositions inside and outside the analyte zone, the corresponding electrokinetic behaviour and the dynamics of the double layer adjustment to the variations of the local compositions of the flowing liquid.
