The article brings a brief information on history of Czech empirical social research, current conditions in R&D and overview of Czech data services and institutional conditions in which they have been developed. Data services of the Sociological Data Archive (SDA) of the Institute of Sociology, Czech Statistical Office, Czech Archive of Qualitative Data and Documents at the Masaryk University and Soft Data Archive MEDARD at the Virtual Institute are described in details.
