In frog retinal glial (Muller) cells, the rectification of potassiumcurrent mediated by K+ inward rectifier channel (K ir) is mainlydue to a block by endogeneous polyamines spermine/spermidine.Topographical distribution of local cytoplasmic spermine/spermidineconcentration in Muller cells from different parts of retina correlateswith different degree of rectification of potassium current.
