The 3-d computational fluid dynamics(CFD) was used to study the process of generation of atomic chlorine, a precursor of atomic iodine for the recently proposed version of a supersonic chemical oxygen-iodine laser (COIL). The model included either laminar or large eddy simulation (LES) viscosity formulation.
