The evolution of crystal structure parameters together with magnetism are compared for U1-xLuxYxcoAl and also for UCoAl1-xXx (X=Ga, In, Sn). It is concluded that the linear changes of lattice dimensions rather that unit cell volume play a principal role in determining the ground state properties of UCoAl related compounds.
