The paper deals with an exceptional cultural environmentof the Roman allies, mostly eastern Teutons and Huns. Itis characterised by precious gold and silver objects, often inlaid with precious stones, which served as insigniaand synbols of the superior position and their high functions within the Roman power apparatus.
