Článek rozebírá důvody, které vedly L. Wittgensteina k opuštění jeho raného pojetí jazyka a přijetí jeho pozdějších názorů, jak je nacházíme ve Filosofických zkoumáních, a argumentuje, že tyto důvody jsou dobré. Nejhlubším z nich je poznání, že vztah pojmenovávání, o který se celá traktátovská koncepce implicitně opírá jako o něco natolik zřejmého, že to není třeba nijak vysvětlovat, je mnohem problematičtější, než se zdá na první pohled. Poté, co se Wittgenstein začal zabývat jeho podstatou, dostal se až k 'sociologickým' základům jazyka a dospěl k závěru, že právě to je rovina, na které lze podstatu jazyka skutečně vysvětlit.

The paper analyzes the reasons which led L. Wittgenstein to abandoning his early notion of language and accepting his later views, which can be found in his Philosophical investigations, and argues, that the reasons are sound. The deepest one is the recognition of the fact, that the relation of naming, on which the whole tractarian view implicitly rests as on an obvious unexplained explainer, is much more problematic, than it prima facie seems. After Wittgenstein turned his attention to the nature of this relation, he disclosed the 'sociological' basis *of language and reached the conclusion, that this is the very level, on which language can be explained.
