V článku jsou srovnány záměry zakladatele Národního musea v Praze (1818) hraběte Kašpara Šternberka a tvůrce projektu "národní" akademie (1861-1863) fyziologa Jana Evangelisty Purkyně. Oba chtěli vybudovat středisko pro výzkum i výuku s přihlédnutím k praktickým potřebám české společnosti. Obě instituce měly být vybudovány jako projev zemského vlastenectví (pro Čechy i Němce v Čechách žijící).

The aims of the founder of the National Museum in Prague (1818) Count Caspar Sternberg and the creator of the project of the "national" Academy (1861-1863) are compared. Both scientists aspired to create research and learning centres that should take in account the practical requirements of the society. These institutions as a manifestation of the land patriotism were to serve both Czech and German inhabitants in the Czech lands.
