Pod vlivem nacismu, ve jménu sjednocení Němců v českých zemích při současném vyloučení Němců židovského původu, byla od r. 1938 také na poli vědy připravována zastřešující organizace pro všechny příslušné instituce. Společnost pro podporu německé vědy, umění a literatury v Československu se nové situaci přizpůsobovala - získala statut Akademie věd, vyřadila z řad svých členů židy, musela ze své působnosti vynechat umění. Musela však i tak o svou samostatnost bojovat. Článek upozorňuje na zásadní události, které její zaměření a přijímání nových členů ovlivnily, a na peripetie, kterými až do konce své existence procházela.

Under the influence of Nazism, for the unification of Germans living in the Czech lands (with the contemporaneous expulsion of Germans of the Jewish origin), there was planned and prepared one organization that was to cover in all respective institutions of the sciences, social sciences and humanities from 1938. The Society for Support of the German Science, Art and Literature in Czechoslovakia tried to conform itself to the new situation - it gained status of the Academy of Sciences, it excluded Jews as its members, it had to leave out arts from its activities. Nevertheless, it had to battle for its independency. The article highlights important events, influencing direction of the Society and election of new members, and peripetia that the Society and its leadership went by to the end of its existence.
