Článek pojednává o jediné památce UNESCO na území Moldavska, která je součástí velkolepého zeměměřického díla nazývaného Struveho oblouk. Toto dílo se nesmazatelně zapsalo do historie poledníkových měření pro přesné určení velikosti a tvaru naší Země. Struveho oblouk je trvalým příkladem mezinárodní spolupráce nejen na odborné úrovni zeměměřičů, ale také na úrovni vládnoucích panovníků jednotlivých zemí v době jeho vzniku v první polovině 19. století.

This article deals with the only UNESCO monument in the land of Moldova, which is part of a spectacular triangulating work called Struve Arc. This work has been indelibly inscribed into the history of meridian measurements for accurate determination of the size and shape of our planet. Struve Arc is a permanent example of international cooperation not only at the level of expert land surveyors but also at the level of ruling monarchs of individual countries in the time of its creation in the first half of the 19th century.
