Recenze představuje a kriticky hodnotí souborné vydání celkem sedmnácti studií klasické filoložky a přední české teatroložky, profesorky Evy Stehlíkové, které ve spolupráci s autorkou sestavil a doprovodil doslovem Martin V. Putna. Kniha zahrnuje několik studií o antických dramaticích a římských básnících vydávaných od konce 70. let 20. století v rámci předmluv a doslovů k překladům, ale i sérii časopiseckých článků o antické a pozdně antické literatuře z doby porevoluční, a dále několik vybraných studií o recepci antiky v moderní literatuře.

The review introduces and critically assesses the publication collecting seventeen studies by professor Eva Stehlíková, a chief Czech theatrologist and classical philologist. These were compiled, in collaboration with the author herself, by Martin C. Putna who is also an author of the book's epilogue. The book includes studies on ancient playwrights and Roman poets, which had been published from the end of seventieth years of 20th century as prefaces or epilogues of their translated editions, and next a series of articles about classical and late ancient literature published in professional periodicals after the revolutionary year 1989, and also several selected studies on the reception of antiquity in modern literature.
