Františkán Anthony Bruodin (Tadhg MacDaire MacBrody), který jako katolický emigrant přišel z Irska do Prahy v květnu 1650, působil v Čechách jako významný teolog, který věnoval své největší v Praze vydané dílo Záštita katolické pravdy (Propugnaculum catholicae veritatis) popisu všech herezí katolické církve od vzniku církve do jeho časů. V několika kapitolách I. knihy díla se věnoval i husitství, které představuje od jeho počátků na pražské univerzitě přes kostnický koncil a husitské války až do porážky polních vojsk roku 1434. Zejména dějiny husitství po roce 1419 autor silně zjednodušuje a zcela pomíjí jednání s husity na basilejském koncilu. O existenci a vývoji utrakvismu v českých zemích píše velice neurčitě, zřejmě proto, že pro jeho výklad, který má vrcholit anglickou reformací a perzekucí katolických Irů, nejsou tyto události důležité.

Franciscan monk Anthony Bruodin (Tadhg MacDaire MacBrody) who arrived in Prague from Ireland, as a Catholic expatriate, in May 1650, became a significant theologian. In his book ‘Defence of the Catholic Truth’ (Propugnaculum catholicae veritatis) – his largest work published in Prague – he described all kinds of heresy of the Catholic Church from the formation of the Church till his times. In several chapters of the first volume he dealt with the Hussite Movement which he introduced from its beginning at Prague University, via the Constance Council and Hussite wars and ended with the defeat of field troops in 1434. The author significantly simplified the history of the Hussite movement at the time after 1419 and completely skipped negotiations with Hussites at the Basil council. He mentioned the development of Utraquism in the Bohemian Lands only vaguely, the reason why was probably the fact that this information was not important for his essay which was to peak with the English reformation and persecution of Catholic Irishmen.
